Annapurna Region in December
Not the best time
December isn't ideal for Annapurna Region. Consider a different month.
All Months
October and November deliver the year's clearest skies, with crisp mornings and Himalayan views that stretch to the horizon. Daytime temperatures reach 15-20°C at 3,000 meters, dropping to freezing at night. This peak season means crowded teahouses and higher prices. March through May offers warmer weather and blooming rhododendrons that paint the hillsides pink and red. Morning clouds sometimes obscure peaks, but afternoons usually clear. Winter trekking from December to February is possible on lower routes, though Thorong La may be impassable due to snow. The monsoon from June to September brings leeches, muddy trails, and cloud-covered mountains — only attempt this if you enjoy solitude and don't mind rain. Spring and autumn also coincide with Nepal's major festivals, adding cultural richness but also crowds in villages.
