Al Ula in July
Not the best time
July isn't ideal for Al Ula. Consider a different month.
All Months
November through March delivers Al Ula's perfect weather window. Daytime temperatures hover around 20-25°C, ideal for exploring archaeological sites without melting into the sandstone. Nights can drop to 5°C, so pack layers.
The Winter at Tantora festival runs December through March, transforming Al Ula into a cultural playground with concerts, art installations, and pop-up restaurants. Hotels book up months in advance during festival season, and prices reflect the demand. But the energy and additional dining options make it worth the premium if you can snag reservations.
April and October offer shoulder season advantages — fewer crowds, lower prices, and still-manageable temperatures, though days start heating up in April and can still be warm in October.
Avoid summer entirely unless you're part camel. June through September sees temperatures soar above 40°C, making outdoor exploration miserable and potentially dangerous. Most luxury resorts close or operate limited services during these months anyway.
For stargazing enthusiasts, the new moon periods during winter months offer the darkest skies. Al Ula's remote location and minimal light pollution create some of the clearest night skies in the Middle East — the same stars the Nabateans used for navigation 2,000 years ago.
