September and October bring fewer crowds but still warm enough weather for outdoor dining. The light hits the old buildings beautifully in fall, and you'll have better luck getting restaurant reservations. Summer means tourist season in full swing. Rue des Rosiers becomes nearly impassable on weekends, and many locals flee for vacation in August. But the longer days mean you can explore until 9pm, and every café has its terrace open. Winter empties out the streets but closes many outdoor markets. The Christmas season brings decorations to Place des Vosges, though the cold makes extended walking less pleasant. Many Jewish businesses close for holidays, which can limit dining options during certain weeks.
