Designed entirely by Bill Bensley — both architecture and interiors — and owned by descendants of Phuket's most powerful tin-mining governor, Khaw Sim Bee Na-Ranong. The floating Black Ginger restaurant (accessible only by rope-pulled raft) is considered one of the finest Thai restaurants on the island and holds a Michelin Guide recommendation. The Slate is a 25-acre all-suite, all-villa resort on Nai Yang Beach in northern Phuket, built as a tribute to Phuket's century-old tin mining industry. There is exactly one of these. A 504 sqm single-storey residence with a private pool, courtyard, and garden designed personally as a tribute to Bill Bensley himself. Dark wood furnishings contrasted with flower arrangements, a suspended sundeck, and a spa treatment room. Butler service included. This is the quietest and most private option on the property.

42 suites specifically designed for families. A daybed is included alongside the main oversized king bed, plus a full terrace shaded by palms. Rich colour palette with mining-era art references. Works well for families with young children — proximity to the lagoon family pool is a plus.

Only 4 of these exist, which makes them genuinely exclusive. Bold floral imagery and lavish artworks fill the space. The suite includes en-suite massage beds — the Pearl Shell category is where the Bensley whimsy goes furthest, with murals and textiles that feel like walking into a painting.
