El Nido
Jungle Wild Family Escape in El Nido
Limestone cliffs, jungle beaches, and easy family island fun
Three easygoing days of island lagoons, jungle-framed beaches, and kid-friendly adventures around El Nido. Designed for a halal-observant family who wants the big highlights planned but plenty of relaxed, barefoot time in nature.
Where to Stay

Coco Resort El Nido
A small resort with individual cottages surrounded by lush gardens and palm trees, often with a pool framed by greenery and easy tricycle access to both town and Las Cabanas Beach.
Lio Estate / Huni Lio or Similar Lio Beach Hotel
Modern, mid-range hotel right in the Lio eco-estate, with tropical landscaping, easy beach access, and kid-friendly facilities in a planned, safe environment.
Good to Know
Halal-Friendly Eating Strategy
El Nido doesn’t have many fully certified halal restaurants, so rely on vegan/vegetarian cafés and seafood-focused places; clearly explain “no pork, no lard, no alcohol in food” and choose simple grilled fish, vegetables, and rice dishes.
Booking Island Tours With Kids
Book Tour A at least a day before, ideally as a small-group or private boat, and mention that you have children so they can suggest safer life jackets and gentler stops; confirm lunch is seafood/vegetarian and has no pork or alcohol.
Cash, Tipping, and Small Purchases
Bring enough pesos for tricycles, island fees, and snacks; small tips (20–50 PHP) for boat crew, drivers, and helpful staff are appreciated, especially when they accommodate special food requests or help with kids’ gear.
Sun, Heat, and Sea Safety With Children
Schedule the most active water time before 1 PM, use long-sleeve rash guards, and keep kids in life jackets on boats and while snorkeling in deeper spots; remind them not to touch coral or sea life.
Simple Transport Planning
Most local trips are by tricycle or van; agree on the price before getting in, keep your hotel name on your phone, and cluster each day’s plans in one or two nearby areas to avoid unnecessary back-and-forth rides.
Your Day Trip Itinerary

Cafe Athena
Greek-Mediterranean spot with sea views and lots of vegetarian and seafood options; stick to vegetable moussaka, Greek salad (no wine vinegar), hummus and pita, grilled fish, and prawn dishes prepared without wine or pork, clearly explaining that you need halal-friendly, no-alcohol cooking.

El Nido Town Beach & Bay Walk
Arrive, settle into your hotel, then stroll the narrow, jungle-framed streets to the main beach; let the kids play on the sand, watch boats, and get an early feel for the limestone cliffs around the bay.

El Nido Boutique & Souvenir Stroll
Wander the compact town center to pick up reef-safe sunscreen, dry bags, kids’ snorkel sets, and small souvenirs from local shops tucked among palms and vines.
Las Cabanas / Marimegmeg Beach Afternoon & Sunset
Take a short tricycle from town to this long, palm-lined beach backed by jungle hills; swim in the calm shallows, build sandcastles, and stay for one of El Nido’s best sunsets over the small islands.

Taste El Nido – The Vegan Cafe
Small, plant-filled café serving smoothie bowls, pancakes, avocado toast, coconut yogurt, and coffee/juices; all-meat-free menu means everything is halal-friendly, and you can load up on fruits and grains before a boat tour.

Nacpan Beach Sunmai Bar & Restaurant
Beachfront restaurant under palms serving Filipino and international fare; choose freshly grilled fish, squid, prawns, vegetable stir-fries, and plain rice, and clearly request no pork, lard, or alcohol in your dishes so they remain halal-friendly.
El Nido Island Hopping Tour A (Big Lagoon Focus)
Join a family-friendly Tour A to visit Big Lagoon, Shimizu Island, Secret Lagoon, and Seven Commandos Beach; you’ll swim, kayak, snorkel, and picnic on jungle-framed beaches in calm, turquoise waters.

Nacpan Beach Free-Explore Time
After your morning tour (or as a separate half-day if Tour A finishes early), ride a van or tricycle to Nacpan and enjoy a vast, golden sand beach bordered by coconut palms and green hills; kids can run freely, splash in the waves, and relax under umbrellas.

Beach Games & Stargazing at Nacpan
Linger at Nacpan into the early evening for simple family games on the sand, watching the sunset and, on clear nights, some basic stargazing away from the brighter lights of town.
