Using Buses & SUBE
Buy a SUBE card at kiosks or the Civic Center office and load it at supermarkets or kiosks; Line 20 runs to Llao Llao, Line 10 to Colonia Suiza, Line 55 to Cerro Catedral, and Line 72 to the airport.
Safety & Night Walks
Bariloche is safer than Buenos Aires but pickpocketing can occur in crowded central areas; at night, prefer well-lit streets over the darker lakeside promenade when returning to your hotel.
Local Dining Rhythm
Plan for late dinners around 9–10 PM, and use earlier evenings for lakeside strolls or café time; many restaurants won’t be lively before 8 PM.
Mate & Social Etiquette
If offered mate, take a sip and pass it back as it came; don’t say ‘gracias’ until you’re done drinking for good, and expect cheek-kiss greetings rather than handshakes.
