Zur Kloster-Mühle
Rustic-modern country inn. Half-timbered farmhouse architecture meets contemporary interiors: exposed beam ceilings, semi-open bathrooms, bespoke furniture, and color-coded rooms. The pond is the star of the setting.
Book the Wellness room (from €221) well in advance — there is only one, and it has the only in-room sauna and whirlpool on the property.
Why It Matters
One of the few lodging properties in northern Germany with this combination — 750 years of mill history, GreenSign sustainability certification since 2020, Tablet Hotels listing, and national press recognition as one of Germany's most beautiful country inns. The wellness room with in-room sauna next to the bed is genuinely unusual at this price point.
A former 750-year-old water mill turned boutique hotel, sitting on a 2.5-hectare pond in the Lower Saxon countryside halfway between Hamburg and Bremen. Owner Carola Klindworth runs a tight, personal operation: 14 individually styled rooms across two buildings, a restaurant with regional-meets-Mediterranean cooking, and a wellness room that packs a private sauna, whirlpool, and massage shower into 23 m². It is not accessible by elevator, and EV charging is not available — worth knowing before you book.
