Book The Dining Room well in advance — it takes pre-booked tables only, Thu–Sun, and there's a £100pp deposit. A waiting list exists but fills fast.

Why It Matters

Holds one Michelin Star and two Michelin Keys. Became the UK's first climate-positive hotel and spa in 2024, having reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 98% versus its 2019 baseline. Just 23 rooms means the property never feels impersonal.

A 23-room country house hotel set in 12 acres of gardens in the Cotswolds, about 40 minutes from Bath. Whatley Manor punches well above its modest room count: there is a Michelin-starred restaurant (The Dining Room), a solid second restaurant (Grey's), an award-winning spa with a hydrotherapy pool, a private cinema, and 26 distinctly different garden areas to wander. The whole operation has a quietly serious edge — two Michelin Keys, EarthCheck Silver certification, and the distinction of being the UK's first climate-positive hotel.
