Why It Matters
Germany's first certified 'Vollholzhotel' (solid wood hotel). Every room carries the scent of Swiss stone pine, some suites have private saunas and fireplaces, and the rooftop pool faces the Wetterstein mountain range. The hotel has won a Michelin Key, a KAYAK Travel Award (2023), and a loyal following of repeat guests who book suites with fireplaces in winter.
Bavaria's first solid wood hotel, opened in 2018 by the Erhardt family — a family with roots in Partenkirchen going back to the 17th century. The whole building is built from solid timber and it shows: Swiss pine scents the air in every corridor, the design is warm and considered without being stuffy. It sits right on the edge of the Michael Ende Kurpark, about a five-minute walk from the centre of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
