Why It Matters
W Rome's biggest draw is Giano Restaurant, helmed by 2-Michelin-star Sicilian chef Ciccio Sultano — a genuinely serious restaurant inside a design hotel. The lobby features a hand-painted mural by Italian artist Costanza Alvarez de Castro (270 hours of work) inspired by Roman gardens. It's the first W property integrated into a historic Roman palazzo, giving it a character and restraint rare for the brand. Green Key and BREEAM certified.
W Rome takes a 19th-century palazzo in Rome's upscale Ludovisi quarter and runs with it — hard. The interiors, designed by Will Meyer and Gray Davis, layer hammered marble, repeating arches, and bold artworks over the building's historic bones. It's a social hotel first: the W Lounge hums with DJ sets until 1am, the sixth-floor Wet Deck plunge pool draws a scene on summer afternoons, and Michelin-starred Sicilian chef Ciccio Sultano's Giano Restaurant turns the ground floor into a genuine dining destination. But there's no spa here, and the standard rooms are tight — entry-level Wonderful rooms clock in at around 23 sqm.
