Why It Matters
The 17th property in the Virgin Hotels Collection and the brand's first foothold in London — named one of the top hotels in London in the 2025 Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards. Hidden Grooves, the 38-seat hi-fi bar, is reason alone to visit even if you're not staying. The hotel is also one of very few in London with a rooftop pool open year-round.
London's first Virgin Hotel opened in August 2024 inside the former Mondrian Shoreditch — a red-brick industrial building on Curtain Road that looks like it was born for this brand. And it mostly works. The signature Virgin touches are all here: exposed brickwork, floor-to-ceiling warehouse windows, red Smeg fridges in every room, a rooftop pool heated year-round, and Hidden Grooves — one of the most distinctive hotel bars in the city, modelled on a Japanese hi-fi listening lounge. The vibe is East London through and through, but with Virgin's playful red streak running throughout.

At 45 sqm — nearly double the standard room — this suite has separate living and sleeping spaces, a proper sofa, large desk, small dining table, the full suite-spec Smeg fridge stocked with champagne flutes and a crystal cocktail shaker, Lavazza machine, and a freestanding roll-top bathtub in the bedroom. Bespoke artwork throughout. Marble bathroom with steam shower and heated floor. Rates from around £750/night.

The blackout blind upgrade. Same footprint as the standard Chamber but with darker blinds for those who need to sleep off the night in Shoreditch. All standard Virgin brand features included.
KingGrand Chamber King Terrace
Located on the 6th floor, these rooms come with a spectacular private terrace — one reviewer described a wrap-around version (Room 601) as a 'stunner'. The room itself is similar in size to a standard Chamber but the terrace changes everything. Worth specifically requesting.
KingJunior Suite
Huge windows, a soft king bed, and a marble bathroom that goes beyond what you'd expect at this category. Extra beds can be accommodated (£50/night supplement). A proper step up from the Chambers.
KingJunior Terrace Suite
The indoor-outdoor suite — it spills onto its own large private balcony terrace. Same marble bathroom and suite-level amenities, but the terrace is the real selling point here. Extra beds available.
KingSir Richard's Flat
The penthouse — Virgin's playful name for what is, in practice, the presidential suite. At 1,025 sq ft, the king bedroom with roll-top bath interconnects with a sprawling living room and a full kitchen. Made for entertaining, with the London skyline as the backdrop. Rockstar flourishes: bespoke art everywhere, freestanding bathtub right beside the bed. Very limited availability — worth entering the hotel's festive prize draw if that's a thing during your visit.
