Villa Sal is two self-catering villas stacked on a south-facing clifftop in the small coastal town of Lagoa, on São Miguel Island in the Azores. The Atlantic is right there — no beach, no buffer, just huge windows and balconies looking straight out to sea. Both villas are renovated with stone and wood, living plants, and eclectic maritime-inspired décor. This is not a hotel. No reception, no restaurant, no spa. Full kitchens, laundry, soundproofed windows. Natural seawater pools are steps away down the coastal path.

One-Bedroom Villa
A complete self-contained villa on the clifftop. The main bedroom and living room both face the Atlantic through large windows, and the private terrace hangs directly over the sea. Queen-size bed with high-end mattress. Full kitchen overlooking the water. Sleeps up to three with use of the sofa bed. Stone, wood, and living plants throughout. No hotel frills — just a very well-finished apartment with one of the best views on the island.
Queen sizeTwo-Bedroom Villa
The larger of the two units, sleeping up to five with the sofa bed. Two bedrooms — one with a queen-size bed, one with single beds — both with sea views. Balconies directly over the Atlantic. Living room with balcony, fully equipped kitchen, and a private bathroom with shower. In-room safe, air conditioning, laundry. Same maritime-natural aesthetic as the One-Bedroom villa. Works well for families or a pair of couples.

Boat trips along the south coast of São Miguel, arranged locally. Day sails take in the cliffs, sea caves, and open ocean — with good odds of dolphin sightings.

São Miguel has surf beaches within 15 minutes of the villa. Board rentals and lessons available through local surf schools.
São Miguel has an extensive network of walking trails, from crater-lake rim walks at Sete Cidades to the thermal valley at Furnas. Azores Stays can point guests toward the best routes.
Rocky Atlantic tidal pools just steps from the villa on the coastal path. Free to use, a local Lagoa favourite, with a beverage kiosk nearby in season. Better swimming than most hotel pools.
São Miguel's famous geothermally heated outdoor pools, including the well-known Caldeira Velha and the pools at Furnas. About a 30-40 minute drive from the villa.
Arrangeable through local operators in the Azores. Late spring (April–June) is peak season; sperm whales and blue whales are regularly spotted. On a lucky morning you might see them from the villa terrace itself.
