Restaurant Lokaal has earned a Michelin Green Star every year from 2021 through 2024 — four consecutive years — for its hyper-local, zero-waste sourcing from Gelderland producers. Chef Bjorn Massop won the JRE Taste of Origin Award in 2022. The villa itself is a designated national monument, and football coaching legend Guus Hiddink went to school here.
A 4-star boutique hotel inside a national monument villa built in 1853 — originally a boarding school for Latin School students, designated a Dutch national monument in 1999. The building has history baked into every corner, from the arboretum grounds to the tea dome on the estate. But the interior is firmly present tense: Dutch Design, bold art, Auping beds, and a Michelin-recognized kitchen led by chef Bjorn Massop at Restaurant Lokaal. No pool, no spa. A newer addition on the estate grounds (De Buitenplaats), built in tiny-house style with a sustainable design ethos. Self-contained units with a full kitchen — rare for a hotel at this level. Panoramic views over the park and garden. Fully separate from the main villa building. No pets allowed.
Familie Kamer
Family-oriented room configuration, designed to accommodate parents with children. Specific layout and size details not fully published; contact the hotel for family group configuration.
Lifestyle Kamer
The entry-level category and also the most varied — no two rooms are identical. Characterized by bold color accents, statement art on the walls, and American shutters. Comfortable Auping twin beds as standard. Some rooms feature a loft layout where you sleep upstairs and have a separate lounge and bathroom below. Some have a balcony overlooking the arboretum. Shower, no bath.
Waterpret Kamer
The premium in-villa room type. Every room in this category includes an Auping double bed plus a freestanding bath. Select rooms also feature private wellness in the form of a steam shower or infrared sauna. One room was styled by the magazine Landleven with a freestanding bath and rain shower. Some rooms have a balcony with park views. Note: not every Waterpret room has in-room wellness — call to confirm if that's your priority.

Throughout May, the kitchen serves a 3-course asparagus dinner 7 days a week at €39.50 per person. Asparagus sourced directly from local grower Gert Smits. A seasonal highlight that reflects the kitchen's regional-produce philosophy.

The hotel sits near etappes 14 and 15 of the Pieterpad — the Netherlands' most famous long-distance walking route at 499 km total. The hotel packages a stay with a breakfast and lunch pack for walkers doing these stages.
An organised cycling event (approximately 49 km) that tours local producers in the Achterhoek — farms, wine estates, and artisan makers. Guests stop at local producers and enjoy food and drink along the route before returning to the Villa for a closing bite and drink. Runs on specific dates, typically on Dutch public holidays.
