Villa Le Barone
Old-money Tuscan farmhouse — warm, intimate, decidedly un-corporate. Think frescoed ceilings, terracotta floors, creaky charm, and very good Chianti.

Why It Matters
A genuine piece of Florentine aristocratic history — the Della Robbia family (the famous Renaissance ceramists) used the villa as their summer retreat from the 16th century. Duchess Franca Visconti opened it as a hotel in 1977 and the current owners, Corso and Jacqueline, have kept that private-house ethos intact. The tower suite with 16th-century tapestries is unlike anything else in the region.
Villa Le Barone is a 16th-century Della Robbia family manor turned 4-star hotel, sitting on several private acres in the Chianti hills between Florence and Siena. The rooms are full of antique furnishings, family heirlooms, and original artworks — this place genuinely feels like a private home where the owners happen to welcome paying guests. There's no spa, no concierge bustle; just an infinity saltwater pool with sweeping vineyard views, a restaurant in the old wine cellar, and 28 individually decorated rooms.
