Son Vell
Understated countryside luxury. Honey-colored sandstone, terracotta floors, ancient wooden beams, and antiques alongside bespoke contemporary furniture. The working farm next door keeps things real — this is not a themed resort. It is a restored estate that happens to have excellent food and unusually beautiful rooms.

Why It Matters
One of Menorca's most significant recent hotel openings, and the first hotel project from the family-owned Vestige Collection. Executive Chef Joan Bagur's flagship restaurant Vermell holds a coveted Guía Repsol entry (2024), Spain's top restaurant guide. The estate covers a full 180 hectares, including working farmland. Menorca itself is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The hotel is seasonal only — mid-April to end of October.
A working 180-hectare estate in western Menorca that opened as a luxury boutique hotel in 2023. At its centre: a honey-hued 18th-century Italianate manor house, meticulously restored using local materials and traditional methods, surrounded by citrus groves, olive trees, and a fragrant organic kitchen garden. Rooms spread across the manor, converted agricultural outbuildings, and purpose-built garden suites — all generously sized, all private. Two outdoor pools, two restaurants, an almost-private rocky cove within walking distance, and the Camí de Cavalls hiking trail starting right at the estate boundary. Small enough to feel genuinely secluded. Large enough that the estate swallows you whole.

How you'll actually spend your days.
A specialist-guided tour of Ciutadella's galleries, foundations, private collections, and studios. A proper look at contemporary art and creative life on the island rather than a standard city tour.
Free bikes available for guests. Cala Son Vell (the hotel's semi-private cove) is an easy ride from the estate. Son Saura beach is around 15 minutes by bike. Roads on this side of the island are quiet and in good condition.
The experiences team can charter a boat for coastal exploration — bird and sea life watching, impressive cliffs, or hidden coves. Route is customised to what you're after.
The estate leads directly to Cala Son Vell, a rocky cove that is essentially semi-private to Son Vell guests. Easily reached on foot or by bike. A quiet, swimmable alternative to the busier Menorcan beaches.
The estate's outdoor cinema runs after dark — pick up a drink and snack and watch everything from cinematic classics to recent releases in the open air. A reliable crowd-pleaser.
A different artist, singer, or musician performs at restaurant Vermell every week throughout the season. Covers genres from acoustic to classical to contemporary — the hotel rotates the lineup to keep it fresh.
A guided 4x4 tour across the island covering varied landscapes, pretty villages, archaeological sites, and hidden calas. Ends at Torre del Ram for views over Ciutadella.
Choose between riding lessons on the estate itself or excursions along the historic Camí de Cavalls coastal path. Expert guides accompany all levels from beginners upward. The trail wraps the entire island — do an hour, a half-day, or a full day.
Daily Hatha yoga classes held on the open-air yoga deck in the gardens. Connects breath with posture, and given the setting — sunrise over an 18th-century estate — it's hard to imagine a better backdrop.
A pétanque pitch on the estate — old-school, no-pressure, and perfectly suited to an afternoon in the shade between pool sessions.
Guided paddle-boarding excursions exploring Menorca's bays and coves. Expert instruction included, so even absolute beginners can manage the calm Mediterranean waters.
Menorca was designated a Starlight Reserve in 2019 thanks to its genuinely low light pollution. The hotel can arrange guided stargazing sessions — on a clear night, the Milky Way is visible with the naked eye.

The hotel uses a geothermal air-conditioning system, with solar panels and geothermal wells generating approximately 60% of the property's energy.
A working organic vegetable garden supplies both restaurants. The estate also operates an on-site dairy farm — part of the hotel's farm-to-table philosophy and sustainability commitment.
