Valavier is a 4-star Superior family-run resort at the quiet end of the Brandnertal valley in Vorarlberg, with the Rätikon mountain range on your doorstep and the Alvier river at the garden's edge. The hotel started as a humble customs house, passed through generations, and is now run by Edi, Kathi, Fabian, and Santina — a family that genuinely shows up for guests rather than managing from a distance. The balance between serious outdoor activity (skiing steps from the front door, 65km of pistes, an 18-hole golf course next door, 30km of bike trails) and a proper wellness setup — six saunas, three pools, and massage treatments with alpine cosmetics — is what makes it stand out in the region.

Kids club and childcare available for families. Children's playground on site. Manfred and Mathilda — two resident rabbits in the garden — are a genuine highlight for small children. Family pool time 10am–2pm.
Hotel's own fleet of e-bikes available for hire. Good for valley rides or accessing higher trailheads. E-bikes may also be used in the Bikepark (downhill only; battery removal required for some cable car transport).
Approximately 30km of mountain bike trails nearby including the Bikepark Brandnertal with dedicated freeride lines (Tschengla Unchained, Tschäck the Ripper, Tschack Norris) at varying difficulty levels, plus family-friendly flow trails. E-bike rental available at the hotel.
The 18-hole Brand Golf Course is steps from the hotel, open May–October. Hotel guests receive a 20% green fee discount (also valid at 7 other Vorarlberg courses). Fabian, one of the family owners, is a golf pro and can arrange introductions to the course. Driving range use is free.
The hotel maintains its own herb garden supplying the kitchen. Meyers.Speis offers intimate regional tasting experiences featuring game from the family's own hunt, mountain herbs, and local cheese.
Trails begin directly from the hotel entrance, ranging from easy valley walks to high-alpine routes. The Premium Guest Card (included with stay) covers free cable car access to higher starting points in summer. Personalised hiking tips available at reception; private guides can be arranged. The Brandner natural swimming lake is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Free access is included with the Premium Guest Card in summer. Clear mountain water, no chlorine.
65 kilometres of pistes in the Brandnertal ski area, directly accessible from the hotel — the village cable car (Dorfbahn) is across the street. Runs range from gentle family slopes to sporty descents with Rätikon views. A Montafon-Brandnertal combined pass extends access further. On-site ski rental available. Two local ski schools (Brand & Brand Alpin) offer lessons for all ages.
Complimentary snowshoe hire for guests. The Brandnertal offers quiet snowshoe routes through snow-covered forests and across open alpine terrain, well away from the ski slopes.
