Why It Matters
Designed by Hong Kong studio Design Systems, TUVE's entire aesthetic is drawn from Danish photographer Kim Høltermand's misty images of a Swedish lake. No hotel signage, no pool, no gym — just exceptionally considered interiors and Le Labo toiletries. TUVE is a 66-room boutique hotel in the Tin Hau neighborhood of Hong Kong Island, designed by local studio Design Systems and inspired by a Danish photographer's moody winter images of a Swedish lake of the same name. Raw concrete, oxidized copper, marble, oak, wired glass, and flecks of gold leaf do all the talking here — there's no signage on the facade, no common areas, and next to no decoration. But the rooms are genuinely comfortable, the staff are warm and switched-on, and the quiet residential street outside is lined with bakeries, dim sum spots, and temples.

The smallest room in the hotel — and yes, 17 sqm is genuinely compact. But it works. Floor-to-ceiling natural wood wall paneling softens the industrial palette and adds real warmth to the space. Queen bed with fine linen, ambient floor lighting along the perimeter, marble bathroom with walk-in shower and Le Labo toiletries. Good for solo travelers who spend most of the day out and come back for a stylish crash-pad.

The mid-tier option, available as king or twin. Concrete walls and flooring meet subtle perimeter floor lighting to create something that feels surprisingly serene rather than cold. The design's central trick — raw industrial materials made comfortable through perfect proportions and lighting — works well here. The multi-functional 'treasure box' furniture piece unfolds to reveal the minibar, a slimline desk, and a metal chair.

Premier Room
At 30 sqm, this is the one to book if budget allows. King bed, spacious walk-in shower, and translucent glass panels that draw natural light deep into the room. Available in both a White and a Black variant — the White Premier feels almost ethereal, the Black Premier is moodier and more dramatic. Either way, the balance of natural light and sensual interior lighting really comes into its own at this size.
