The glass cabins are small — ideal for couples or solo travelers, not ideal for anyone wanting space to spread out

Why It Matters

One of Oregon's most storied wilderness retreats, now sharpened with elevated dining, mirrored glass cabins that vanish into the treeline, and a riverside ÖÖD sauna. The Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, Esquire's Best New Hotels 2025, and back-to-back Travel + Leisure recognition signal a property leveling up without losing its soul.

Tu Tu' Tun Lodge sits on the banks of Oregon's wild Rogue River, seven miles inland from Gold Beach and about 40 miles north of the California border. Founded in 1970 and named for the Tututni Indigenous tribe, it began as a no-frills hideaway for fly fishermen and West Coast adventurers. In 2023, longtime guest and wine industry figure Charles Banks bought the place and has been steadily upgrading it — adding 12 mirrored glass cabins by Estonian design firm ÖÖD, a new executive chef, and a Wine Spectator award-winning wine program — without scrubbing away the lodge's unhurried, off-grid character.
