Triangel Boutique Hotel
Alpine contemporary with soul. The architects kept the original triangular building form and added a barn-like annex for apartments. Inside: warm spruce-toned wooden furniture, a giant boulder fireplace anchoring the central lounge, vinyl flooring that feels more Scandi than kitsch, and rooms individually styled with photos and stories of the mountain peak each is named after. Modern comfort, genuinely local character.

Why It Matters
The onsite Restaurant Triangel holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its seasonal, locally-sourced Slovenian cooking under chef Jon Zupan — rare recognition for a small village hotel. The property also holds Green Key certification, Slovenia Green Accommodation and Green Cuisine labels, Kranjska Gora Finest certificate, and Triglav National Park quality marks. Previously known as Penzion Špik, it was completely reimagined by owners Matjaž and Polona Tičar and architect Primož Hočevar.
Triangel is a small, 4-star boutique hotel on the edge of Triglav National Park in the tiny village of Gozd Martuljek — about 4km from the Kranjska Gora ski hub. Fifteen rooms and apartments, each named after a nearby mountain peak and each with its own balcony facing either the Julian Alps or the Karavanke range. The restaurant has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand (2025), which is frankly the bigger reason to come here.
