Why It Matters
Won Portugal's National Prize for Urban Rehabilitation (Tourism, 2020). Part of the intimate CONTO Arts & Residence collection by Pedra Líquida — the same studio behind the award-winning Casa do Conto. Only 10 rooms, a hidden saltwater pool in a walled garden, and literary concrete ceilings that make every stay feel like an art installation.
A former typography and graphic arts workshop turned 10-key boutique hotel in Porto's Cedofeita neighbourhood. The raw concrete ceilings are literally inscribed with literary quotes in low relief — a nod to the building's printing past — and the rooms mix white walls, warm-gold wood, and mid-century leather chairs into something that feels like a design magazine shoot without trying too hard. Opened in 2019 and designed by the acclaimed Pedra Líquida studio, it won the 2020 National Prize for Urban Rehabilitation in the Tourism category.
