The William Vale
Contemporary luxury with a distinctly Brooklyn edge. Design-forward without feeling cold — the monochrome palette gets warmed up by local art, wood floors, and the sheer volume of natural light that pours through those floor-to-ceiling windows. The crowd is mixed: creative professionals, weekend visitors from Manhattan, and locals who treat Westlight and the pool as neighborhood fixtures.
The Corner Suite is the most popular room and arguably the best value upgrade — the 309 sq ft wraparound balcony is nearly as large as the room itself
Why It Matters
Arguably the hotel that finally gave Williamsburg the high-design boutique property it had been waiting for. Every room has a private balcony with real views. The dining program by Andrew Carmellini is genuinely excellent rather than obligatory. And the seasonal amenities — a 60-foot rooftop pool in summer, panoramic barrel saunas in winter — mean there's something to pull you back at any time of year.
In a Williamsburg skyline that skews forgettable, the William Vale sticks out. Architect Albo Liberis designed a 22-story tower that announces itself — the building's structural form traces a distinctive WV silhouette. Interiors by Studio Munge lean monochrome: white walls, hardwood floors, black metal fixtures, and art from local Brooklyn artists. All 183 rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies, a genuinely rare thing to say about a New York City hotel. Four food-and-drink venues by James Beard Award-winner Andrew Carmellini operate here, from Westlight on the 22nd floor to the ground-floor southern Italian kitchen at Leuca.
