Why It Matters
Opened in 2017, the property is a sister to The Lisbonaire Apartments and is featured on Tablet Hotels. All furniture is custom-designed by Lisbon-based Studio Pedrita, and the interiors were conceived by designer Luisa Pinho — rare for an independently-run aparthotel. The statue of King D. João I stands directly in front on the square.
The Visionaire is an 18-unit aparthotel in a renovated 18th-century building right on Praça da Figueira, Lisbon's central market square. The whole place is themed around Portugal's 16th-century Age of Discovery — think custom hardwood furniture by Studio Pedrita, African masks, Asian tapestries, and hand-painted azulejo tiles evoking a merchant's house that traded with Cape Verde, Goa, and Japan. It's a genuine concept property, not a generic city apart-hotel, and the location is genuinely as central as it gets.

Honest caveat: the ceilings are low at the edges and the single window limits light on the street-facing version. But it's 50 square metres with a full open kitchen and sleeps up to 3.
