The Trident Hotel
Mid-century modern jet-set crash pad. White walls, dark wood floors, Eames and Saarinen furniture, gallery-quality artwork, speakeasy supper club. Effortless glamour without the pretension.
Ask for a Deluxe Villa if you want the outdoor terrace tub with ocean views — Mr & Mrs Smith rates it as the sweet spot, with more outdoor space than indoor.
Why It Matters
One of the very few places on the island where you get genuine villa-level privacy — your own plunge pool, your own terrace, your own Caribbean vista — with actual nightlife worth leaving the room for. Mike's Supper Club, with its 1917 Ferrari-red Steinway and live jazz every night, is a genuinely special venue. Port Antonio itself is off the mass-tourism radar entirely, so the beach and the Blue Lagoon aren't overrun.
Thirteen oceanfront villas spread across more than 10 acres on Jamaica's quiet northeast coast, where Port Antonio's lush jungle meets the Caribbean. The design is firmly mid-century modern — curated original artwork from the '50s and '60s, clean white-on-white interiors, and every villa with its own private plunge pool or outdoor soaking tub. This is not the Jamaica of packed all-inclusives; it's the Jamaica that Bette Davis and Rudyard Kipling once called their winter haunt.

From the hotel's private beach, with a watersports guide on hand. One of the more popular ways to explore the coastline and poke around the nearby coves.
Available off the private beach.
Clear, unspoiled water straight off the private beach. A watersports guide is available.
The hotel has a dedicated media / screening room with an extensive film library. Book a private screening for the evening.
The ornate sister property — an eccentric 18th-century English colonial-style castle with turrets, chandeliers, Roman statues, and a pair of stone alligators at the entrance — is a five-minute stroll from the hotel. Worth a wander.
Available upon request. Pilates, yoga, and personal trainer sessions can all be arranged. There is a dedicated yoga deck adjoining the spa.
