The St. Regis Hong Kong
Refined contemporary with deliberate Hong Kong residential character — dark woods, warm bronze, and a quiet theatricality rather than flashy opulence. Think upscale private mansion rather than grand palace hotel.
Show up at the Drawing Room around 5:25pm to watch (and potentially receive a pour of) the daily champagne sabrage — it's complimentary if you're standing nearby
Why It Matters
Two separate two-Michelin-starred restaurants (French and Cantonese) under one roof is practically unheard of. André Fu's residential-style design sets it apart from the typical luxury-hotel playbook. The daily champagne sabrage at 5:30pm, performed with a custom saber made by the Chief Maréchal des Logis of the French Republican Guard, is a genuinely memorable ritual. Forbes Five-Star rated in 2025.
Opened in 2019 as Marriott's 7,000th hotel globally, The St. Regis Hong Kong occupies a slender 27-story tower in the Wan Chai district, designed entirely by celebrated Hong Kong-based interior designer André Fu. The rooms are among the largest in the city — starting at 538 sq ft — and the design weaves in local references throughout: lacquer headboard panels that echo old Wan Chai shop shutters, bedside lamps shaped like Chinese lanterns, oak dividers evoking traditional shophouse windows. It's a luxury property that earns its stars not just on aesthetics but on substance, with four dining venues holding multiple Michelin stars between them.

One of the most extensive cigar programmes in Hong Kong: 500+ cigars from 25 brands including St. Regis private labels from Estelí (Nicaragua), Dominican Republic, and Honduras. Served with custom St. Regis branded Cristallerie de Paris ashtrays and branded lighter. Al fresco in the garden-like terrace.
Every evening at 5:30pm, the hotel marks the transition from day to night by sabering a bottle of Champagne with a custom-made sword — a replica of Napoleon's original, crafted by Sylvain Pintus, Chief Maréchal des Logis of the French Republican Guard. The hotel uses Lhuillier Brut Tradition. Show up early — bystanders sometimes get a complimentary pour.
The St. Regis Bar features live jazz music alongside its cocktail programme, adding to the New York–Hong Kong two-city atmosphere.
Hong Kong's first dim sum-inspired afternoon tea trolley: you choose your own savouries and sweets from a rolling cart rather than receiving a fixed set. Rooted in St. Regis brand history — Caroline Astor, the founder's mother, made Afternoon Tea an institution. Available daily at The Drawing Room.
24/7 fitness centre with Technogym equipment. Personal trainers available for one-on-one consultations and private sessions. Cardio and weight training fully covered.
Each guest is assigned a personal butler from curbside arrival through departure. Butlers handle curbside meet-and-greet, in-room check-in, packing/unpacking, suit pressing, tea service, restaurant bookings, and bespoke Hong Kong itinerary planning. 24-hour e-butler also available via phone/app.
19.5m x 6.8m heated outdoor pool on the 7th floor, surrounded by sun loungers and chaise lounges in a mansion-garden setting. Pool bar open Thursday to Sunday (noon to ~6pm). Cleaning breaks at 1:00pm–1:30pm and 6:00pm–6:30pm daily.
