Setting Inn Willamette Valley
Contemporary minimalist boutique inn with a wine-country focus. Clean lines, curated details, no fussy decor. Feels like a design-forward friend's guesthouse rather than a traditional inn.
Book Room 6 if you want the most dramatic room: 546 sq ft with heated bathroom tiles, soaking tub, in-room flame furnace, and a European towel warmer.
Why It Matters
Founded by Jeff Cova and Noah McMahon, the co-owners of The Setting Wines, the property has its own on-site tasting room for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. It's one of the few small inns in Willamette Valley with a genuine winemaker connection built in — not just proximity to wineries but wine literally poured on the premises.
Eight rooms on 10 acres in the middle of Oregon wine country — that's the whole pitch, and it works. The Setting Inn is a fully renovated contemporary property where the rooms are small by resort standards but finished with real intention: hardwood floors, platform beds, LATHER bath products, and Nespresso machines. The vibe is modern Pacific Northwest, not rustic B&B. Breakfast shows up in a wooden box outside your door at 8:30am, complete with local pastries, cured meats, wine country cheese, and an Oregon mimosa.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Full bocce court overlooking the Chehalem Ridge — one of the better spots on the property for a late-afternoon glass of wine and a low-key game.
Cornhole, croquet, and badminton available on the manicured north lawn and courtyard areas.
Multiple outdoor fire pits in the courtyard — the go-to gathering spot after returning from a day of tasting.
Small but functional gym between the main building and the barn, featuring a Peloton bike. Described as recently remodeled.
Off-site but popular: hot air ballooning over the Willamette Valley is recommended by the inn as a signature area activity. Third-party operators, not affiliated with the inn.
The renovated Barn can host private dinners, receptions, anniversary parties, elopements, and small corporate meetings. Approximately 1,200 sq ft of indoor event space adjacent to the courtyard, with a separate private meeting room. Vineyard views on both sides.
Sit-down tasting of the inn's own-label Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, led by a sommelier/host in the on-site tasting room. Approximately 90 minutes per guest reviews. Open to the public and bookable via Exploretock.
