The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee
Craftsman lodge meets lakeside luxury resort. Relaxed, outdoorsy, and genuinely family-friendly — but still very much Ritz-Carlton in service and finish.
Request a Lake View Fireside room — the private patio with fire pit facing the water is what makes this place special
Why It Matters
One of the only lakefront Ritz-Carlton properties in the world. Holds a MICHELIN Key designation, AAA Five Diamond Award (2023 & 2024), and Condé Nast Traveler 2024 Readers' Choice for Best Resorts in the South. The Lake House — a private four-bedroom villa with its own pool — was named one of Elite Traveler's Top 50 Family Hotel Suites.
About 85 miles east of Atlanta, the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds sits on 30 acres of its own lakeshore within the sprawling Reynolds Lake Oconee community. The architecture leans Craftsman lodge rather than typical Ritz-Carlton grandeur — think stacked-stone fireplaces, wood and wicker furnishings, and rooms that open onto private patios with personal fire pits. Golf is the main draw: five championship courses designed by Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, Rees Jones, and Bob Cupp. But non-golfers have plenty to keep busy too, from jet skis and kayaks on the lake to a 27,000-square-foot spa and a speakeasy hidden behind a bookshelf.
