The Ritz-Carlton, Boston
Modern urban luxury with a quiet nod to New England literary heritage. Contemporary and polished, residential-feeling suites, without the stuffiness you might expect from the Ritz-Carlton name.
Park View rooms look directly over Boston Common — the upgrade from a City View room is worth it, especially in fall foliage season
Why It Matters
The original US home of the Ritz-Carlton brand, reborn in a modern tower with direct views over Boston Common and access to one of the largest urban sports clubs in the country. The Club Lounge tier genuinely changes the value equation — complimentary Equinox access, all-day food, and top-shelf drinks transform what could just be a very expensive room into something close to a private club.
Boston is the birthplace of the Ritz-Carlton brand in the US — the first property opened here in 1927. The current hotel is a modern downtown tower sitting directly across from Boston Common, not some stately historic building, which actually works in its favor. All 193 rooms and suites have the kind of contemporary design that feels genuinely refreshed rather than frozen in time, drawing on Colonial craftsmanship motifs and literary figures like Edgar Allan Poe and Ralph Waldo Emerson for their decorative language. The real ace up its sleeve is the adjacent Equinox Sports Club: 114,000 square feet of serious fitness space, squash courts, and a 25-yard indoor pool that few city luxury hotels can match.

The Club Lounge features period-accurate colonial-era board games including 'Shut The Box', 'Nine Men's Morris', and 'The Royal and Most Pleasant Game of Goose' — games played by the likes of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Paul Revere. A distinctly Boston touch.
The hotel concierge team can arrange Boston Duck Tours, Freedom Trail walks, Harvard tours, Fenway Park tours, North End food tours, theater bookings at the Boch Center/Citizens Bank Opera House, and more. Private sedan transfers from Logan Airport can also be booked ($160 one-way).
Full access to the adjacent 114,000 sq ft Equinox Sports Club: 25-yard indoor lap pool, Finnish sauna, steam rooms, four international squash courts, full basketball court, and extensive cardio/weight equipment. Over 100 weekly group fitness classes (yoga, barre, Zumba, Pilates). Open Mon–Fri 5:30 AM–11 PM, Sat–Sun 7 AM–8 PM. Adults 18+ only.
Every Friday evening in the Club Lounge, a Milk Chocolate Fondue presentation with Brown Butter Financier, Belgian waffles, pineapple, strawberries, and Rice Krispie Bites. Exclusive to Club Level guests.
Young guests are greeted with a red wagon full of toys to enjoy during their stay. The program includes a scavenger hunt through the hotel, special welcome gift, Ritz Kids Healthy Taste Menus in all restaurants, children's coloring book menus, cribs and high chairs, infant toiletry and safety items, and child-proofing kits on request.
