The Prospect Hollywood
Maximalist Old Hollywood glamour. Ultra-saturated colors, bold wallpapers, leopard prints, Chinoiserie, brass canopy beds. This is the opposite of minimalist — every surface is doing something. The red front door is the first clue.

Why It Matters
The only hotel in Whitley Heights — the historic neighborhood where Rudolph Valentino, Jean Harlow, and Charlie Chaplin once lived. Martyn Lawrence Bullard (one of AD's top 100 designers globally) personally designed every room. Holds a Michelin Key for both 2024 and 2025. Featured in Architectural Digest, Condé Nast Traveler Hot List, Vogue, The New York Times, and Elle Décor.
A 1939 Hollywood Regency building on a quiet residential street in Whitley Heights, rescued from serious disrepair and transformed by celebrity designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard for Common Thread Hotels. Just 24 rooms, each individually decorated and named after a Hollywood icon — think Bette Davis, James Dean, Judy Garland. The lobby announces itself with malachite, gilded palm trees, and harlequin marble. Then you step into the courtyard with its ancient fountains and fireplaces, and the rest of Hollywood feels very far away.
