Why It Matters

The Pierside is a surf-inspired boutique hotel that reopened in 2023 after a full overhaul, sitting directly across from the Santa Monica Pier on the corner of Ocean and Colorado avenues. It leans hard into SoCal beach culture: a Shepard Fairey mural covers the exterior, rooms come in soft greens and blues with coast-inspired art, and a Board Shop in the lobby rents everything from surfboards to GoPros.
