The Old Quay House
Understated coastal luxury. Think White Company toiletries, roll-top baths, confident restraint in the decor, and a terrace where you can watch boats and swans drift by. Adults-only in spirit (no children under 8, dogs welcome), romantic without being fussy.

Why It Matters
Condé Nast Johansens approved, Tablet Hotels listed, and praised repeatedly for sharp service and sophisticated interiors. The restaurant Samphire, led by Chef Richard Massey, brings serious cooking credentials — sourcing beef from six miles away and drawing on Cornish coastal ingredients with a creative, modern twist. The building's history as a Victorian seamen's refuge adds genuine character.
A Victorian seafront building built in 1883 — originally a sailors' rest, converted to a boutique hotel in 2004 — The Old Quay House sits directly on Fowey's Fore Street with the estuary practically at its doorstep. Fourteen individually decorated rooms spread across three floors, most with estuary views and some with small balconies. No pool, no spa, no gym. What it does have is the new Samphire restaurant, excellent service, and one of the best water outlooks in Cornwall.
