The Newman
Art Deco meets Fitzrovian bohemia — literary, design-led, community-minded, and confidently independent. Neutral palettes with polished brass accents, bespoke furniture, and curated art. Smart without being stuffy.

Why It Matters
Debut hotel from Kinsfolk & Co., founded by Paul Brackley (former MD of the Beaumont in Mayfair). Named London Hotel of the Year 2026 by The Times and Most Stylish Hotel on the Planet 2026 by GQ. Part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Legend Collection — a tier reserved for a handful of ultra-independent luxury independents worldwide. Runs entirely on renewable energy, sources all materials from sustainable suppliers, and operates a hospitality training school in partnership with Saira Hospitality to give back to the local community.
The Newman opened in February 2026 on a street that already carries its name, in Fitzrovia — the scruffy-chic patch of London that gave shelter to Virginia Woolf, Dylan Thomas, and George Orwell. London studio Lind + Almond (also behind Hotel Sanders in Copenhagen) designed every room to quietly salute those characters: bathroom sinks mimic the bubbled balcony edges of nearby Shropshire House, monochrome tiling echoes the Langham Court Hotel's facade seven minutes away, and bedposts on some rooms are subtly shaped like the bangles worn by writer and activist Nancy Cunard. The result is 81 rooms that feel rooted in a specific postcode rather than a generic luxury playbook. Add a genuinely excellent subterranean wellness floor, a street-facing brasserie open to locals, and a speakeasy bar reached via spiral staircase and mirrored tunnel — and you have a debut hotel that hit the ground with real confidence. The Times named it London Hotel of the Year 2026 within weeks of opening.
