The Mont Dublin
Industrial-meets-mid-century-modern. Copper tones, exposed fittings, bold colour furnishings, with a nod to the building's 1970s disco past. The hotel's tagline is 'Plug in, Switch off, Re-charge' — which does capture the feel: connected and city-centric by day, relaxed and pub-warm by night.

Why It Matters
Formerly the Mont Clare Hotel, a Dublin landmark since the 1970s. Opened in its current form in 2019 after a full redesign by O'Callaghan Collection. Won the TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Best of the Best award in 2025. The restaurant Speranza is named for Lady Jane Wilde's revolutionary literary pseudonym — a local detail that earns its story.
The Mont sits on the corner of Merrion Square in the heart of Dublin 2, a short stroll from the Oscar Wilde statue and a 15-minute walk from Temple Bar. It opened in 2019 after a full gut renovation of the old Mont Clare Hotel — a 1970s Dublin disco institution — and the bones of the Georgian building are still very much here: big sash windows, high ceilings. But inside it's all industrial finishes, bold colour pops and mid-century furniture. 96 rooms across seven category types, a wood-fired Italian restaurant, a sport-and-craft-beer bar with a glass winter garden, and a surprisingly serious 24-hour gym in the basement.
