The Mandrake Hotel
Dark, theatrical, and sensuously artistic. Think velvet, bespoke global artwork, vintage chandeliers, and an ostrich sculpture named Showgirl dominating the restaurant. The vibe tilts nightclub-meets-gallery rather than traditional five-star hotel.
Request an upper-floor room if you're sensitive to noise — the courtyard carries sound and Waeska runs late on weekends
Why It Matters
One of London's most distinctive boutique hotels — it runs an artist-in-residence programme, hosts live DJ nights Thu–Sat, operates the world's first multi-sensory Wavess Origin Pool spa (DAMU, opened 2025, winner of Best New Luxury Spa at Condé Nast Johansens Awards 2026), and provides a Spiritual Concierge menu including sound healing, gong baths and reiki sessions. Dress codes apply across all F&B venues.
The Mandrake is a 33-room adults-only boutique hotel on Newman Street in Fitzrovia, opened in 2017 by entrepreneur and art collector Rami Fustok. You walk through a deliberately dim, narrow corridor to reach it — a move that puts real distance between you and Oxford Street even though the two are about two minutes apart. Inside, a central courtyard wrapped in hanging jasmine and passionflower anchors a world built around the tension between darkness and light, hedonism and spiritualism.

Complimentary weekend sound healing available to hotel residents as part of the wellbeing programme.
The hotel's renowned Spiritual Concierge service — described as the first of its kind in the world. Guests choose from a curated menu of healing sessions, crystalline sound baths, gong baths, shamanic healing, reiki, and sound frequency alignment. Available midweek. Guides are hand-selected specialists.
The hotel features a theatre space (Masha Hari Theatre) used for film screenings, live performances and club nights.
Resident and guest DJs perform at Waeska Bar every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until 1am. The bar is accessible to both hotel guests and the public. Note: rooms near the bar may experience noise.
