Maidstone New Orleans
Mid-century American motor lodge meets New Orleans sensuality. Design-forward and tactile without being precious. More pool-bar energy than hushed-hotel energy.
Hotel rates start at $295/night. The pool is open to non-guests for $25 drop-in or $600 annual pass — worth knowing if you're staying nearby.
Why It Matters
Michelin Guide-listed boutique hotel that opened February 2025 in a storied Mid-City motor lodge building. Designed by Studio Tre with genuine material intelligence — Frette linens, Santa Maria Novella amenities, custom Oaxacan textiles. A calm, design-driven counterpoint to the French Quarter's louder hotels. Pool and bar are open to the public.
A 1956 American motor lodge on Tulane Avenue that's been through two lives already — first as the Crescent Motel, then the cult-favorite Drifter Hotel — and is now its most considered version yet. New York studio Studio Tre overhauled every room and the grounds for ISMD's 2025 relaunch, threading in cork floors, custom birch millwork, Oaxacan moon tapestries, and a color palette borrowed from Louisiana itself: sage, rust, swamp green. Only 18 rooms. Small by any standard, but that's the whole point.
