The Lowell
Old-money Upper East Side residential elegance — quiet, understated, and personal. Feels more like a very well-run private club than a hotel. No soaring atrium, no million-dollar art installation in the lobby. Just impeccable service, fresh flowers, and a fireplace.

Why It Matters
The only hotel in New York City with authentic wood-burning fireplaces. Repeatedly ranked #1 hotel in NYC by Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure. Family-owned since 1984. Houses the Dior Afternoon Tea partnership at Majorelle. The Hollywood Suite retains an original movie script authored by Marlon Brando during his stay.
The Lowell is a 17-floor, 74-room landmark hotel built in 1927 and still family-owned — one of the last in New York. It sits on a quiet residential block on the Upper East Side, between Madison and Park Avenues, with Central Park 150 feet to the west and Madison Avenue's fashion houses right around the corner. After a $25 million renovation completed in 2017, the rooms feel like genuinely well-appointed Manhattan apartments: individually decorated by designer Michael Smith, wood-burning fireplaces (the only hotel in New York City that has them), private terraces, and marble baths with Frette linens.
