Why It Matters
Each of the 19 apartments was individually designed by a different Portuguese artist or studio, inspired by specific typographic and visual elements of downtown Lisbon. No two apartments look alike. The building opened in 2011 and holds a Michelin Guide selection. Equipment, linen, and cutlery are all sourced from Portuguese manufacturers.
The Lisbonaire is 19 apartments in a fully rebuilt 1960s building on quiet Rua da Glória, just off Avenida da Liberdade. Each unit was designed by a different Portuguese artist or designer under the creative direction of ExperimentaDesign, all drawing on the typographic and visual heritage of Baixa and Chiado. Think typography-inspired stickers floor to ceiling, handpainted shop logos, tile patterns, and furniture by Studio Pedrita — all made in Portugal. It is very much a design project that happens to have beds in it.

A compact studio with optimized layout, individually decorated in the same Portuguese design ethos as the rest of the property. Same full kitchen equipment and amenities as the standard studio but in a slightly smaller footprint. Guest reviews note good use of space.
DoubleOne-Bedroom Apartment
At 70 sq meters, this is the largest unit — ground floor, with a separate bedroom (natural light but no external window), an open kitchen, living area, and one bathroom. Sleeps up to four with a king double plus two singles. High ceilings and generous proportions make it the go-to for families or anyone who needs real space.
King + Twin · 70 sqmStudio Apartment
40 sq meters of individually designed space — each studio reflects a specific designer's typographic or visual take on Lisbon. Open kitchen with full equipment, one bathroom with bathtub, and either a king-size double or two single beds. Air conditioning, Google Home, cable TV, and USB outlets at the bedside are standard across all units.

Small but functional gym with weights, a strength machine, TRX, elliptical trainer, and stationary bicycle. Compact — not a full gym — but more than enough for a cardio session or strength work.
Open rooftop terrace with city views, constructed from 421,000 recycled plastic bags. Great spot for a glass of wine after a day out. No pool, but a genuinely pleasant outdoor space with real character.
Communal space in the building's lower level. Snooker table, library, movie watching, honesty bar, board games, and a kids zone with cardboard ping pong, foosball, and salvaged carnival rides. The kind of place you end up spending an afternoon in without planning to.
