Why It Matters

The Langham opened in 1865 as Europe's first Grand Hotel and has the history to prove it — guests have included Dickens, Twain, Conan Doyle, and more royalty than you can count. It sat empty and BBC-owned for decades before reopening under the Hong Kong-based Langham Hospitality Group, and the renovation brought it firmly into the modern luxury conversation. Today it holds Two Michelin Keys (2025), runs one of London's most celebrated cocktail bars in Artesian, and claims to be the birthplace of English Afternoon Tea at Palm Court.
