Subject of the Netflix series 'Motel Makeover'. One of the few genuine motel-to-boutique transformations in Canada that actually stuck the landing. Listed by Tablet Hotels and part of the Mr & Mrs Smith collection via Hyatt. Located in Prince Edward County, Ontario's emerging wine region.
The June Motel started as a genuine gut-renovation project — co-founders April Brown and Sarah Sklash bought the old Sportsman Motel, a 50-year-old fishing lodge where guests once gutted trout in the rooms, and turned it into 16 photogenic rooms dripping in tropical wallpaper, rattan furnishings, and enough rosé-themed décor to make Instagram blush. The result is a seasonal boutique motel in Ontario wine country that punches well above its modest motel bones, complete with a lobby bar, nightly campfire s'mores, and bay views. It was compelling enough to inspire a Netflix series — Motel Makeover — documenting their second location.

Classic
The signature room. A bold statement wall anchors an eclectic mix of mid-century and bohemian touches — think well-chosen vintage finds rather than anything generic. Upper-floor Classics face Picton Bay and the sunset views from the private balcony are the room's real star. In-room wine bar (glassware, corkscrew, bottle opener) included. Nespresso machine, locally made toiletries from Sunday's Company, Crosley Bluetooth speaker, flatscreen TV with streaming.
Deluxe Studio
The pick of the non-suite rooms. A scallop-edge sofa, Crosley record player (yes, a proper record player), bohemian tapestry, and a moon-like paper lantern give this room a lived-in, well-curated feel. Two double beds and a furnished patio mean four people can actually spread out comfortably. Recommended by Mr & Mrs Smith as the favourite room.
Rosé Suite
The motel's flagship room and the one that started the Instagram frenzy. Fresh vibrant wallpaper, blush walls, neon artwork, slogan mugs, and a dedicated in-room rosé bar. Sleeps 4–5 people including a bunk bed — perfect for a group. Room 16. Bring your best outfit: this room is a full photo shoot.
Studio
A step up in size, designed with groups in mind. Funky wallpaper, mid-century flair, copper and brass accents. Sleeps up to 4 people, making it the practical pick for a girls' trip where you want shared space without booking two rooms. Same in-room amenities as Classic.
Wine Studio
A newly renovated room with a wine bar setup stocked with glassware and everything you need for snacks or a light meal. Note: the 'wine bar' is a kitchenette-style setup — wine is not pre-stocked. Bold mid-century design with funky wallpaper. Popular with bachelorette groups and repeat visitors.

The quiet wooded area behind the motel, strung with fairy lights. Picnic tables and Muskoka chairs are set up for guests. A good spot for a sundowner or an afternoon with a bottle from the lobby bar. Also hosts the yoga deck.
A small fleet of bikes available to guests at no charge. A leisurely way to cycle into Picton or Bloomfield to browse independent boutiques and grab coffee. The roads are quiet and flat enough to be enjoyable.
Propane firepit in the front yard runs May through October each evening. S'mores are provided. Guests gather here with drinks from the lobby bar — it's the motel's most consistently praised social ritual.
On-call staff available by text for activity recommendations, winery directions, restaurant bookings, and general county intel. Guests rate this service highly for responsiveness and local knowledge.
The motel partners with My County Wine Tours, who create bespoke itineraries to nearby wineries, breweries and distilleries in Prince Edward County. Not operated by the motel — an off-property third-party operator.
Outdoor yoga sessions on the Yoga Deck, set in the Bohemian Forest behind the motel. Saturdays at 9am. Surrounded by trees, it's a genuinely calm spot for a morning stretch. Advance sign-up required via Google Form.
