Why It Matters
One of very few hotels anywhere with full Christian Liaigre custom interiors and furnishings — the same designer responsible for some of Paris's most celebrated private spaces. Architecture by his compatriot Florent Nédélec. Two suites per floor with dedicated lifts is a genuine rarity in high-density Hong Kong.
The Jervois is a 35-storey, 49-suite boutique hotel in Sheung Wan designed by French architect Florent Nédélec, with every interior surface the work of Christian Liaigre. Think deep-toned wood panelling, supple leather, and Carrara marble — no gilt, no flash. The building runs just two suites per floor, each with its own private lift lobby, so you never bump into another guest if you don't want to. There's no lobby to speak of — literally a check-in desk, a single armchair, and a narrow hall to the elevator — and deliberately no on-site restaurant, bar, or pool. Here is the thing: that's the point. The Jervois is built for guests who want privacy, serious space (700 sq ft starting), and Liaigre-grade design without the hotel theatre.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The concierge recommends guided small-group gourmet walks through Central and Sheung Wan, exploring local dishes off the beaten track — traditional tea houses, dim sum spots, and street food the area is known for.
A 4.5km uphill walk from Sheung Wan to The Peak, passing through some surprisingly quiet pedestrian-only sections. The hotel concierge provides maps and route guidance. A solid half-day outing with city views throughout.
The rooftop is not formally marketed but staff will escort guests up for views over the city and harbour. Not an official amenity — ask at the front desk.
A 1920s-style open-top tram narrated tour that departs from Sheung Wan, just steps from the hotel. Includes a two-day open ticket for the regular tram service — good value for exploring the island.
