Why It Matters
Named 'best boutique hotels in Amsterdam' by Condé Nast Traveller. The only hotel in the city built across five original canal houses with preserved warren-like floor plans — some rooms have restored monumental ceilings and original beams. Lotti's restaurant is a genuine neighbourhood spot open to locals.
Five classic Amsterdam canal houses knocked together into one 111-room hotel on the Herengracht — formerly the mayor's home, which explains the brass chandeliers and monumental ceilings some rooms still have. The Hoxton pulls off the trick of feeling genuinely designed without charging you through the nose for it.
