Why It Matters
Originally designed as luxury condominiums and converted to a boutique hotel during the 2008 economic downturn by husband-and-wife team Dave and Simona Krug. The Guesthouse Hotel is a 25-suite boutique hotel built from a converted luxury condo building in Andersonville — one of Chicago's most character-rich north-side neighborhoods. Every suite is apartment-scale: full kitchens, 10-foot ceilings, separate living rooms, and private balconies with gas grills. It's the kind of place that makes a standard hotel room feel like a cruel joke.

Open kitchen with stainless appliances and a granite breakfast bar, a bright living room with 10-foot ceilings, king bed in the separate bedroom, glass shower bathroom, balcony with gas grill, and an in-suite washer/dryer. Sleeps 2.
KingThree Bedroom Suite
The flagship at 1,800 square feet — this is the suite that put the hotel on the map. A gas fireplace anchors the living and dining area, the kitchen has a full granite island, and there are three bedrooms (king primary, two queens). Still only two full bathrooms, which is worth noting for groups of 6. Private balcony with gas grill included.
King + 2 QueensTwo Bedroom Deluxe Suite
Steps up the standard Two Bedroom with 1,200 square feet and a gas fireplace in the living room. Same two-bathroom layout with king primary and queen second bedroom, plus a full dining table on top of the granite kitchen island. The extra square footage shows. Sleeps 4 (rollaway available).
King + QueenTwo Bedroom Suite
A solid 1,000-square-foot layout with two full bathrooms. The primary has a king bed with en-suite bath; the second has a queen. The living room is bright and wide-open with 10-foot ceilings, and you get the same gourmet kitchen, gas grill balcony, and in-suite laundry. Sleeps 4.
