The in-house Arbor restaurant has held 2 AA Rosettes for over 12 consecutive years under chef Andy Hilton. One of the most serious sustainability commitments of any small UK hotel — over 100 environmental measures in place, including 4 new EV chargers installed in 2025.
A Grade II listed Victorian villa that opened as a boutique hotel in April 2010 after an 18-month eco-minded refurbishment. The exterior is all period charm — bay windows, red brick, leafy street — but inside, sustainability runs through every decision: storm-felled solid wood furniture, 100% wool carpets, FSC-certified wallpaper, Farrow & Ball eco paint, solar water heating, and a combined heat-and-power unit. Thirty-two rooms, a 2 AA Rosette restaurant, and a wine list that's fully organic and biodynamic. No pool, no spa, but that's not what this place is about.

A step up in space, with a proper king-size bed (5ft). Same hand-crafted furniture and sustainable ethos throughout. One room in this category can be configured as twin on request. Natural stone basin, walk-in shower, luxury toiletries.

Cosy Double
The entry-level room — small, but done properly. Double bed (4ft 6in), handcrafted UK-made furniture, 32-inch LED TV, goose-down duvet, organic bed linen. Bathroom has a natural stone basin and walk-in shower. No roll-top bath at this level.

Deluxe Double
The top tier. Full of character with the same reclaimed Victorian roll-top bath, super-king bed, and walk-in shower. Named rooms in this category include Silver Birch, Wild Pear, Cedar, Crab Apple, and Horse Chestnut — each individually styled. Bathrobes included. Beds can be twinned.
