The Grandtully Hotel
Modern Scottish heritage — tartan banished, genuine warmth kept. Think record players in rooms, a 'press for whisky' button in the library, and cocktails that change with the seasons.
Book Room 3 for a vinyl record player and the 'Pet Sounds' wallpaper; Room 8 for the balcony; Room 7 for the most natural light.
Why It Matters
Two AA Rosettes, Michelin Key for two consecutive years, and Michelin Guide listed. The restaurant's hyper-local sourcing (Isle of Mull crab, Perthshire wild mushrooms, no avocado, no salmon) is the real draw. Rates from £160/night including a four-course breakfast.
A former 1866 railway hotel, now one of Scotland's best small food-led stays. Eight rooms, a Michelin-listed restaurant, and The Tully Bar sit inside a stone building on the A827 overlooking the River Tay. Its sister property, Ballintaggart Farm, is two miles down the road and shares owners, ethos, and the cook school.
