Why It Matters
The only 5-star hotel in Galway city. Designed by Philip Treacy — milliner to Victoria Beckham, Oprah, Madonna and Princess Kate — making it genuinely one-of-a-kind. The Linda Evangelista Suite contains the actual bed gifted to Treacy by the supermodel herself.
The g Hotel & Spa is Galway's only 5-star hotel, designed from top to bottom by world-famous milliner Philip Treacy. Opened in November 2005, the interiors are all drama and detail — a tank of Connemara-bred seahorses at reception, 200 individually twinkling lights in the Grand Salon created with designer Tom Dixon, and the legendary Pink Room with coral-framed mirrors and blush velvet walls. The hotel has since undergone a €1M refresh under Leonardo Hotels Group, adding sharper cocktail bars and a garden terrace off GEO restaurant, but the Treacy signature still runs through every sea-wave door handle and oversized shell cushion.

Bathed in natural light and overlooking Lough Atalia, these rooms are a genuine upgrade. The same 50 sq m footprint as the Junior Suite but with views directly over Lough Atalia and the Galway city skyline. Inspired by the Wild Atlantic Ocean, these suites have a super king bed in high-thread-count linen, a generous lounge area, and a Crema Levante marble bathroom with standalone bathtub and double rainfall shower.

The entry-level room at The g still punches well above its category. King bed with duck-down pillows and a plush duvet, or a spacious twin-queen option that works for up to four guests. Rooms look out over Wellpark or the internal courtyard. Bathrooms come with a bathtub and powerful shower, plus Irish brand Ground Wellbeing toiletries. Bedside USB/USC charging ports are a nice practical touch.
King or Twin QueenThe Linda Evangelista Suite
The flagship suite. Named by Philip Treacy himself in honour of supermodel Linda Evangelista, who gifted Treacy her personal bed — that very bed now sits in this suite. At 120 sq m it's the biggest space in the hotel, with a private terrace over Lough Atalia, a king-size RESPA bed, and a separate living area for private dining up to six guests. The bathroom is the real showpiece: a Villeroy & Boch standalone bathtub positioned for full lake views, double sinks, large double rainfall shower, and a tile-screen TV with surround sound. Turndown service is standard.
