Why It Matters
One of very few luxury hotels with direct Tiber River frontage in Rome. Part of The First Roma urban resort concept — three distinct boutique hotels (art, gastronomy, music) spread across Prati and the adjacent bank, each offering guests access to all three properties. Fabrics are Loro Piana; bathrooms are Calacatta marble with walk-in rain showers. The Alto rooftop bar, spanning the 6th and 7th floors, draws Rome's locals for aperitivo.
A 24-room five-star boutique hotel on the right bank of the Tiber in Rome's Prati district, opened July 2022. The building is a converted mid-century office block originally designed by architect Mario Docci and renovated by Studio Marincola — its striking bronze mesh-and-concrete façade is a deliberate nod to Richard Meier's Museo dell'Ara Pacis across the water. The music theme is baked into every detail: each room is dedicated to a musical artist and comes with a vinyl record and QR-linked curated playlist, Bang & Olufsen speakers, and a soundtrack that shifts through the hotel's common spaces. It's the third piece of the 'The First Roma' triptych alongside sister hotels The First Arte and The First Dolce.
