Why It Matters
Formerly the Hilton Boston Downtown/Faneuil Hall, the building reopened as The Dagny in 2023 after a full rebrand and renovation. It's Boston's original Art Deco skyscraper, and the transformation kept the original architectural bones — ornate ceilings, generous proportions — while adding genuinely contemporary touches. The Fin Point Oyster Bar & Grille is worth a visit even if you're not staying.
The Dagny occupies the Batterymarch Building, Boston's first Art Deco skyscraper from 1928, fresh from a 2023 multi-million dollar renovation. It sits at the corner of Downtown Boston and the Financial District — steps from Faneuil Hall, the Waterfront, and the Freedom Trail. The name comes from Old Norse meaning 'new day,' and the hotel leans hard into that spirit: 403 rooms with ornate Deco detailing, brass accents, floor-to-ceiling marble bathrooms, and a genuinely good oyster bar on the ground floor.
