The Chelsea Townhouse
Quietly upscale residential-style townhouse. Heritage details throughout — marble fireplaces, ornate architraves, antique artwork, 'Objects of Curiosity' — but zero stuffiness. It feels more like visiting a well-connected friend than checking into a hotel.

Why It Matters
Historically significant building dating to the 1890s, extensively renovated by architect Gary Kellett. Part of Iconic Luxury Hotels' portfolio alongside Chewton Glen, Cliveden House, and The Lygon Arms. One of the few London hotels with privileged guest access to private Cadogan Gardens. The Chelsea Townhouse is the former home of the Astor family and connects via sibling properties to a 24-hour gym, acclaimed restaurant Hans' Bar & Grill, and Champagne afternoon teas — all next door.
The Chelsea Townhouse is 36-room boutique hotel spread across three connected Victorian red-brick townhouses on a private garden square in SW3. Opened in September 2023 as the younger sibling of 11 Cadogan Gardens next door, it occupies the former Draycott Hotel — a property that once served as the city residence of the Astor family. The vibe is residential and unpretentious: no doorman in a bowler hat, no grand lobby, just a monochrome patchwork tiled floor, sweeping staircases, and a tiny Victorian lift.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Classic British afternoon tea served in the hotel's intimate dining salon. Finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, pastries, fine teas, and optional Champagne.
A curated picnic experience in the private gardens featuring finger sandwiches, decadent cheesecake, and Laurent Perrier Champagne, presented in a stylish backpack that guests keep afterwards. Can also be taken away for use elsewhere.
The hotel markets itself as the ideal base for Chelsea FC home games at Stamford Bridge — walkable location, no parking stress, and dining at Hans' Bar & Grill before or after the match.
The entire Chelsea Townhouse can be booked on an exclusive-use basis for private events, corporate retreats, or weddings in Chelsea.
Guests receive privileged access to the private, gated Cadogan Gardens directly opposite the hotel — a genuinely rare perk in central London. Lush lawns, towering mulberry trees, and complete quiet just steps from the room. Ideal for morning walks or an afternoon with a book.
