Insider Tip

Hotel guests get complimentary history tours (normally $25/person) — book through the concierge. Daily at 1:30 PM, 75 minutes, and genuinely worth it.

Why It Matters

One of the longest-continuously-operating luxury hotels in the US. Artesian wells feed water directly to every room. Rooftop beehives supply the restaurants. Three themed Presidential Suites (Eisenhower still has the golf dent in the fireplace mantel). AAA Four Diamond since 1977. Named Colorado's Leading Hotel at the 2024 World Travel Awards.

Built in 1892 and shaped like a triangle — an architectural quirk that still turns heads — the Brown Palace is Denver's original grand hotel and one of the few in the country still operating continuously since the Victorian era. Nearly every U.S. president since Teddy Roosevelt has stayed here. The Beatles caused a media frenzy when they checked in during their 1964 World Tour. The hotel has its own artesian wells drilled 750 feet below the building, supplying pure water to every guest room, and rooftop beehives that produce honey used in cocktails and the house wheat beer. The eight-story atrium lobby, crowned by a stained-glass skylight and wrapped in wrought iron balconies, is the kind of thing you walk into and just stop.

Classic Queen Guest Room

The entry-level room and the smallest in the house. Walnut paneling, marble bathroom, city views. Compact by today's standards — don't expect to spread out. But the bones are good and the artesian water in the tap is a nice touch.

Eisenhower Suite

Home to the Eisenhower family during the summer of 1955 — Mamie was from Denver, so Ike basically moved in. The fireplace mantel has a dent from Ike's indoor golf practice. All-marble master bathroom with double vanity, soaking tub, and rain showerhead.
