The Break
Retro-chic surf boutique. Think mid-century beach house meets elevated coastal inn — bold color, locally commissioned art, heated floors, and a rooftop bar that actually delivers on the view.
Fresh-baked cookies appear in the hallway water stations — guests consistently mention them
Why It Matters
Narragansett's first and only boutique hotel, filling a genuine gap in a town historically dominated by seasonal rentals and chain motels. The design is deliberately non-generic: local artists created the commissioned surf paintings, fish-rubbing prints hang throughout, and the concrete bar at Chair 5 was poured by local craftsmen.
The Break is Narragansett's first boutique hotel — a 16-room property that trades New England nautical clichés for mid-century surf-shack cool. Turquoise color schemes, retro coastal artwork, and bold textiles channel late-1960s Rhode Island surf culture (specifically local legend Peter Pan, who put Narragansett on the surf map). Gas fireplaces are in every room, the outdoor saltwater pool runs year-round at a toasty 92°F, and the fourth-floor Chair 5 restaurant sits atop it all with ocean views and craft cocktails.
