The Berkeley
Fashion-forward contemporary luxury. Design-obsessed but never cold. Each room is the work of a different acclaimed designer — André Fu, Robert Angell, Helen Green, John Heah — so no two feel the same. Skews younger and more stylish than the traditionalist Mayfair grand hotels. The clientele is a mix of fashion and finance, with a strong repeat-guest culture.

Why It Matters
One of the only hotels in London with a heated rooftop pool (retractable roof, open spring–autumn). Home to Cédric Grolet's first and only London patisserie. Rooms individually designed by world-class designers with no two alike. Includes complimentary access to Surrenne Belgravia, a four-floor longevity and wellness club. Part of the Maybourne group alongside Claridge's, The Connaught, and The Emory.
The Berkeley is a 5-star Maybourne hotel sitting at the corner where Knightsbridge fades into Belgravia, with Hyde Park practically across the street. It doesn't compete with Claridge's or The Connaught on heritage and ceremony — and it doesn't try to. The play here is contemporary design, a roster of world-class designers who each shaped a different room or suite, and a food-and-drink scene that keeps Londoners coming back even if they're not staying. Cédric Grolet — arguably the world's most famous pastry chef — runs his only London patisserie here, and the heated rooftop pool remains one of the very few in the city. Renovated in 2022, the hotel holds a 2026 Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating.
